Professional Philosophy

Dr. Andrew Griffith's approach to the accounting environment is one that emphasizes conservative accounting over any other form of aggressive accounting. For example, in the income tax accounting discipline, he does not encourage or support taking an aggressive position for a transaction on an income tax return. As a tax professional, he believes that his role is to legally minimize the tax liabilities of his clients (& legally maximize their refunds, if any) while minimizing the potential of friction between his clients and the tax authorities. He believes that aggressive accounting practices ultimately serve to maximize any potential friction between clients and the regulatory authorities and those practices are seldom in the best long-term interests of any taxpayer. A list of his publications is available on this website.
